I got an email yesterday while in my Educational Law class. The email stated that the baby blog http://montante.aboutmybaby.com/ I started for Enzo more than three years ago is going to continue. They have found some new owners to take it over. I wanted to jump up in class and scream! I am so happy as I love my site! Therefore, I will be leaving this blog. Slowly, very slowly, I will be taking each post off of here and copying it onto my old site. I do not want to have a huge gap of time missing. Thank you for those of you that followed me here. We had Enzo's birthday party today. His party was at Farmington Gymnastics. The kids had a wonderful time! I think all of the kids smiled the whole time they were there! Ms. Michelle, Enzo's gymnastics teacher, worked his party today. We could not have asked for a better party. Thank you to everyone that celebrated with us today. We love you!!!! We cannot believe our little boy is three!

We celebrated Enzo's birthday with Tony's family on Mother's Day. Boy, I tell ya, I am just loosing all of my important days to my son. First, I lost my wedding anniversary and now I have lost Mother's Day. Someday, I will get them back again! :( Enzo had a blast playing with his cousins. On May 6th of 2007, a beautiful baby boy was brought into this world. Happy Birthday my not-so-baby boy! You are three! How time flies! We took Doughnuts to school for Enzo and his friends for his birthday treat. I will post those pictures after I scan them in. Daddy promised Enzo that we would take him to McDonalds for breakfast. So, we did! After school, we had pizza, cake and presents. What a wonderful day!

If you have been to our house you know that we have a lot of animals in our backyard. We see deer, rabbits, squirrels, turtles, snakes and much more. Every once in a while, when we have old veggies to get rid of, Tony and Enzo go into the backyard in throw them over the hill. It is our contribution in feeding our animals. For the last two weeks Enzo has had a runny nose and a cough. I had not thought much about it until Thursday night when Enzo woke up several times. During the 3 am waking, he proceeded to tell me "Mama, I'm sick. I need to go to the doctor." My response "Ok, I will take you to the doctor in the morning." While at the doctor, he told me "Mom, I need a shot." I told him that I did not think he needed a shot. He told me "Tell the doctor I need a shot". I did. The doctor and I laughed! His doctor told me that he has a sinus infection. She also thinks that he has some allergies. So, he is on antibiotics and some allergy medicine. He begged me to go to school. His friends were planting flowers at school and he did not want to miss out in the fun. So, I took him to school. Tony picked him up that night and he said that he looked horrible.

On Saturday, we stayed home and played around the house. I noticed that his eyes were really crusty. Sunday they were horrible and he was horrible. I cleaned his eyes out several times. His sinus infection is coming out of his eyes. Poor boy! I told Daddy to close up the house and keep Enzo inside. He ended up taking a 4 1/2 hour nap on Sunday. He needed it! I decided to stay home with him on Monday. Good thing I did. He laid around most of the day, not acting his normal self. Monday afternoon, I thought we could go for a walk. After that, it was down hill, his eyes were horrible again and he was miserable. I am PRAYING that this is just a bad sinus infection and not MAJOR allergies. We shall see. My Birthday boy needs to get better!

I had to trim Augie's hair last weekend because you could not see her eyes. So, like normal, I got out the scissors. Augie watched me get the scissors out and ran away. This is how I found her.

We had an important night in the Montante household tonight. Enzo went poop on the potty for the first time! He said that he had to pee on the potty. So, I put him on the potty and he peed. I asked him if he was done and noticed poop coming out. I was so excited! He is growing up so fast! Yeah for Enzo! Great job buddy. Mom and Dad are so proud of you! :0)

Tony and I had a good laugh tonight. We have been reading this book to Enzo that talks about all of your senses. So, at dinner tonight we were showing Daddy how much Enzo learned from his book. The conversation progressed as follows:

Mom: What do you see with?
Enzo: Your eyes.
Mom: What do you hear with?
Enzo: Your ears.
Mom: What do you touch with?
Enzo: Your fingers.
Mom: What do you taste with?
Enzo: Your mouth.
Mom: What do you smell with?
Enzo: Your nose.
Mom: Very good Enzo!
Dad: What do you sit with? (Trying to be funny, which usually gets him into trouble.)
Enzo: Your butt. (Ha, Ha. They were both laughing.)
Enzo: What do you poop with?
Mom and Dad: The peanut gallery was silent! Tony and I were laughing so hard. I almost spit my drink all over the table. Needless to say we did not answer this question. Too funny!

My little boy is growing so big. Sometimes, I wish I could bottle him up and keep him this way. His chubby little arms, cute little butt, and his melt your heart smile will be gone some day. Can't I just bottle him up? Other days, I laugh at the new experiences, sayings and things this little boy does. It is amazing to watch and an honor to be a part of. I am over the moon that I have had time off to spend with my favorite buddy. Oh, how I miss him when I am gone all day!

Since Enzo has been doing so well in pull ups, we decided to try underwear the other day. He did great! He stayed home with me all day and did not have one accident. He even told me when he had to go potty. Man, oh man, can this boy hold it. I guess that is a good thing. Well, today I sent him to school because I had to work a short day. He was so excited to show all of his friends and teachers his underwear. He told me "Mom, I cannot wait to show Julia my underwear". Normally, I would think twice about this, but this time I told him "I am sure Julia would love to see your underwear".

He did really well at school. They said that he had one accident during nap time. I cannot complain since this was his first time napping in underwear. He told me that he was scared to get off of his cot. They tell the kids to lay down, so they will sleep. I told him that if he really needs to go potty he needs to tell one of his teachers and they will let him go potty. He said "Okay Mom, I will". We shall see what the next few weeks brings us. Wish us luck!

A Weekend of Progress

We have been Very busy over here in the Montante household. We have been working diligently on the house! So far this is what we have accomplished:

1. We have hung up drapes in the Great Room
2. We have primed our new wall in the Guest Bedroom
3. We have painted the trim in our Bedroom
4. We have primed the wall in our Bedroom
5. We have hung up the mirror in our Closet
6. We have hung up four new Exterior House lights
7. We started to clean up the yard
8. We fertilized the lawn
9. Patched the wall behind the Great Room drapes

Next on the agenda:

1. Put another coat of primer on the wall in the Guest Bedroom
2. Paint the wall behind our bed - Done
3. Iron the drapes in our Bedroom
4. Hang the drapes in our Bedroom
5. Decide what color to paint the Guest Bedroom - Done
6. Paint the Guest Bedroom
7. Prep and patch the walls in the Dining room
8. Paint the walls in the Dining room
9. Purchase and hang a new ironing board cabinet for our Closet
10. Sand and paint the wall behind the drapes - Done
11. Get larger hooks for the drapes in the Great Room - Done

How come there is still so much to do? This is acting as my actual To Do List!

More Potty Progress

Well, we have slowly been making progress in the potty training arena. Enzo has been doing a good job of keeping his pull ups dry. Usually, when I have to go to the bathroom I ask Enzo if he has to go. Which he always tells me "no". I end up taking him to the bathroom with me and he goes potty. It works out well.

Over the last few days, I have told him that he cannot go potty in his pull up, he has to tell me if he needs to go. He has been keeping his pull ups dry all day long. Additionally, I have been telling him that he has to keep his pull up dry during nap time. He has actually kept them dry several times now. I am very proud of him!

Yesterday, he asked to sit on the big potty without his potty seat. He went potty twice this way. YEAH! He even made an attempt to go poop on the potty today! We are getting there, slowly but surly.

Day Off

Lucky me, I have today, Thursday and Friday off this week. Even better, I have all of next week off as well. YEAH for vacation. Enzo and I went the Hess Hathaway Park today with our pals. We met Brady, Logan, Jake, Nathan, Marianna and Daniella. The kids had a great time! We even had a picnic lunch at the park. We miss seeing our friends. I did not get any pictures of the babies. I was too busy holding them! Thanks for the wonderful day!

Easter Egg Tree

We have been looking at Easter Egg trees for the last two weeks. Enzo wants an Easter Egg tree very badly. He think everyone has one! So, Enzo and I started his Easter Egg tree this past week. After Gymnastics yesterday West Bloomfield held their annual Easter Egg Hunt at Drake Park. We met Therese and the boys there. Even though it was cold, we had a great time. First, Enzo played on the playground. After the playground, the Easter Bunnies arrived and the boys got their picture with both Easter Bunnies. They even had a bounce house. Enzo had a great time bouncing with his buddies Brady and Logan. Lastly, he got to hunt for eggs. It was a wonderful morning!

Gymnastics

Enzo started Gymnastics last weekend at Farmington Gymnastics. Grandma Donna got him lessons for Christmas. Thanks Grandma! He absolutely loves going! Daddy and I took him this weekend. The kids did two obstacle courses, the balance beam and he got to jump on the trampoline. He did great and had a blast!

This past weekend, Enzo went to Granny and Papa's while I went out with the girls. Kamryn, Riley and Granny had Enzo doing File Folder Games. He loved them! So, we brought a few games home. They focus on matching several different things, counting, etc.

On Tuesday, I picked up Enzo at school and spoke to his teacher for a little while. She told me that Enzo is very smart. She said that he is further advanced than all of the kids in his class. Ms. Amber told me that they did a writing exercise and he did very well. The goal was to draw a straight line. They have been working on tracing, coloring inside the lines and cutting with scissors. I am so happy to hear that my boy is doing so well.

I was also digging through my teacher closet and found some flash cards that I thought Enzo would enjoy playing with. We started with the number flash cards, numbers 1 - 100. We had a wonderful time counting. He learned how to say all of numbers up to 100. He has done really well. Last night, we started playing with Rhyming cards. We also played with ABC cards. He seemed to get bored with the ABC cards, I think because he knows them so well.

Tonight, Enzo blew me out of the water. We were sitting at the dinner table and Enzo was telling me what month everyone was born in. I said that Augie was born in August. He said "Mama, Augie and August rhyme." I was amazed. When I was reading a bedtime story tonight he said to me "Mama, took and look rhyme." I said you're right buddy. Great job! I am so proud of my smart cookie.

Enzo cannot get enough of his cars! He loves them. He plays with them non-stop, sleeps with them and takes them everywhere he goes. He especially LOVES his cars from the movie Cars. Enzo loves to line them up on the couch, the floor, on top of me, where ever he can.

My mom has the piece of art work that is known as "The Cat" by Enzo. It is a metal sculpture that has been crafted into this wonderful cat. As you can imagine, Enzo LOVES this cat. It is just his height and light enough for him to carry around. On a daily basis, he carried the cat around, gave it kisses and talked to it. It was very cute!

While in Florida, my mom and Tom watched Enzo for us so we could go out to dinner. Tony and I had an enjoyable dinner and drive along Siesta Key. It was nice to get away for the night and enjoy some time together. Thanks Mom and Tom! We really appreciate it.

Enzo just loved playing with Grandma Donna while we were in Florida. When we came home he kept asking if we could go back to Florida. He kept saying I want to go back to Grandma Donna's house. "Can we go see Grandma Donna?" It was so cute! He also enjoyed having daily conversations and playing with Grandpa Tom. He went for daily "rides" on Grandpa Tom's Craftmatic Adjustable bed. Once Upon a Potty

Enzo's Potty Diary

We have been working with Enzo for a few months on potty training. The process has been slow and we have been back and fourth with it. To Enzo's defense, we have not been consistent with it or pushing it a ton. So, I have started pushing it a little more and have been attempting to be more consistent.

About one month ago, Enzo was using the potty regularly and wearing pull ups. Then, he decided he did not want to use the potty anymore. He wanted to be a baby and wear diapers. So, we let it slide.

The week before we went to Florida, Enzo pooped on the potty! That was huge! He has been fighting this from day one.

Since we have been back, Enzo has been all about the potty. So, this past weekend Enzo peeped on the potty 9 times on Sunday. WOW! He keep telling me "Mom, I have to pee." So, off we would go.

Later that day, he was helping me put his clothes away and he found his underwear. He said to me "Mom, I am going to be wearing these soon. I am going to be a big boy." So cute! School has been very helpful with the potty training as well. Cross your fingers for me!

We arrived in Florida on Wednesday and it has been down right cold here. It actually got up to 62 degrees on Friday. Today, however it was 47 degrees! What is that about????? Well, we have not spent a lot of time outside playing. When we are outside, this is how you can find Enzo, playing "Squirts". He just loves grandma's squirt guns. Our good friends Jess and JJ have a cute baby girl named Peyton. Enzo has been dying to meet her. So, we went over for a visit. Enzo had a ball playing with Uncle JJ and did not want to leave. He was complaining that he did not want to leave. He said "Mama, I don't want to go. I want to stay and play with Uncle JJ." How cute! Baby Peyton has gotten SO big. Rainbow Recreation

There is a Rainbow Recreation showroom in New Hudson that has open play hours for kids. Several of our buddies were suppose to join us there today, but they all got sick. So Sad! Enzo and I went to check it out by ourselves. He had SO much fun! Enzo absolutely loved jumping on the trampoline. He did not stop smiling the entire time we were there. He did not want to leave! We stopped at McDonalds on the way home. I just love hanging out with my little guy! I miss it!

Enzo and I had another day of fun! We got up early and took Daddy to work, then we had breakfast at Denny's. Enzo ate like a horse. He ate two eggs, a pancake and two sausages. I guess he was hungry. After breakfast, we went to the mall to play. Enzo had the whole play area to himself for a 1/2 hour. He loved it! After a while, another girl arrived she was about 5 1/2 years old. She and Enzo had a ball playing together. After playing for about one hour, we got Enzo's hair cut. He did a wonderful job! He did not squirm or cry. What a big boy! We ran a couple of errands and went home. When we got home, we had lunch and took a nap. Augie and I even took a little nap on the couch! AHHH, what a nice break! Later, Granny and Papa came over for dinner. Enzo had a blast playing with Granny and Papa. Granny even found Enzo some new Lightening sandals. Thanks Granny and Papa!

Vacation - Snowtime

Lucky me, I have the week off from work this week. We are on Mid Winter Break. YEAH! We took Daddy's car in to get fixed yesterday so, we are car-less. We went outside today and played in the snow for one and a half hours! Enzo did not want to go inside. He was having so much fun!

Valentines Day

We celebrated Valentines Day on Saturday this year! Enzo loved all of his treats! Tony and I got yummy Mexican take out. Happy Valentines Day! Yes, Enzo has crazy bed head hair from his nap.

Snow Day

Well, we had a snow day today! That does not mean much for me considering I work for a Cyber High School. So, I still had to work today. I did tell Enzo that if he could be really good this morning, let me get my work done, I would take a break and take him outside. He was wonderful! Outside we went! We had a ton of fun playing in the snow. Once again, I tried to take his picture. It did not work out very well.

After we came in, we had Hot Chocolate with our lunch. Enzo loved it!

Grandpa Ken and Grandma Sue Visit

For Christmas this year, we bought my dad and Sue tickets to go see Cirque du Soleil. So, they came into town this past weekend to go see the show. They had a wonderful time! Enzo loved the fact that they stayed with us. He has SO much fun playing with Grandpa. He has this new habit of ordering people around. Poor Grandpa, got ordered around a lot on Sunday. Thanks for visiting! We always love having you. I could not get a good picture with Enzo. He is not interested in getting his picture taken these days.

New Carpet and Still Sick

We got our new carpet installed this week! It looks great! I will post pictures when the room is all back together. Our new color is brown.

In other news, Enzo finished up his antibiotics this past weekend. By Tuesday, he was not doing well again. I took him back to the doctor on Tuesday night. She told me that he still has an ear infection. So, he went on new antibiotics. The poor boy cannot stop coughing and his nose cannot stop running. I am hoping that it he will get better soon! The doctor told me that if he is not better by Saturday to bring him back in.

Jack Visits

Tony went and picked up his cousin Annette's son, Jack, on Friday night. Enzo and I had dinner at Granny and Papa's. We came home and Enzo was thrilled to have Jack over. He was so excited that Jack was spending the night. In the morning, Enzo could not stop talking about Jack. They played a little bit, prior to Jack leaving to go snowboarding with Tony. Tony showed Jack how to snowboard at Alpine Valley. They had a blast! They came home for dinner and Enzo could not have been happier that Jack was over. He wanted Jack to stay! Enzo almost started crying when Jack had to leave. Thanks for coming Jack! Come again anytime!

Croup and Ear Infection

Now that Enzo is in school full-time he gets sick a lot, almost every other week! He has had a runny nose for almost a week. Which is totally normal in our house. Well, last night he woke up coughing - barking like a seal - at midnight. Right then, I knew he had Croup. So, I put him back to bed and could not sleep. I stayed up and got some work done until 3:30 am. When we got up, Enzo's nose was runny and he kept coughing. We went into the doctor today. He has Croup and an Ear Infection. Poor guy! For having Croup, he slept pretty good in his new bed. Today, he took a 3 1/2 hour nap in his bed. I hope it continues!

Daddy is changing the furniture we are getting Enzo. So, hopefully we will have that figured out by the end of this week. Our carpet people came over today to get a sample of the current carpet, in order to change it out to our new color. I think this will be done in early February.

Big Boy Bed

As most of you know, Enzo has hopped out of his bed a few times in the last several weeks. So, Tony and I knew that our days were numbered. Can I just state that "I AM NOT READY FOR THIS." My baby is getting too big for my liking. Coincidentally, Nancy and Dave bought Adam a new bed. Adam really wanted to give Enzo his old bed. Therefore, Nancy and Dave were kind enough to give us Adam's old bed. Thanks guys!!!! Tony and I have been arguing about when we were going to put Enzo into this new bed. I wanted to wait and Tony did not. So, while I was out shopping today for Enzo's new bedroom furniture, Tony put up Enzo's new bed. Enzo then proceeded to take his first nap in his new bed. He did a great job! Tonight, I broke down his crib and fixed up his new bed. Sniff, sniff. Since I was not prepared to put him in his new bed, we do not have bedding that fits his new bed. So, we had to make do. He is happy as a clam about his new bed!

We did pick out his new furniture and have placed the order. Now, it is time to figure out if Enzo is going to move rooms. His furniture should arrive in 4 to 6 weeks. Cannot wait!!!!!!

The Flu and Carpet

The flu has been going around our house and it is no fun! About two weeks ago, we were getting our new carpet put in the great room. Enzo was not feeling good. He ended up throwing up a few times that night. I ended up not feeling well that weekend as well. By Sunday, we all felt better. That was, until Wednesday rolled around. I ended up going home from work with the flu. I was sick for 4 days. It was horrible. I had stomach cramps, nausea and could not eat or drink a thing. I ended up loosing 5 pounds. Thank goodness we are done with that! Tony now has a sinus thing going on. We hope he gets rid of that soon too!

I wish I could post that our great room is done. Unfortunately, it isn't. The dye lot of the carpet that we ordered was off. So, the color tones of the wall and carpet do not match. Luckily for us, they are fixing it for us. We ordered a new color this week and I am hoping that it will be installed next week. Once that is done, we get to hang up my new drapes and put the room back together. YEAH! That is until we re-carpet the living room and dinning room. That is one of the next projects we are up for. We are also going to have our neighbor, Dave, fix the wall in our guest bedroom. He is going to tear out the old wall, hang new drywall, tape and mud. Dave is also going to tape and mud our sliding glass door in our dinning room. So, we still have more work ahead of us. Cross your fingers for us.
